Course Introduction

Electrical installations are integral to industries, commercial buildings, offices, and residential premises. These installations must comply with the Electricity Act, relevant Regulations, and applicable Codes of Practices/Singapore Standards. For practitioners, operators, owners, and especially those aspiring to become Licensed Electrical Workers (LEWs), a solid understanding of regulatory requirements and design principles is essential. Such knowledge enables the incorporation of preventive measures at the design stage, reducing the risk of electrical accidents and enhancing long‑term safety and reliability.

This course is designed to strengthen and deepen participants’ understanding of electrical installation regulations, design methodologies, and compliance requirements.

Course Objective

This two‑day programme provides comprehensive coverage of regulatory requirements, design principles, installation design calculations, and compliance considerations for electrical installations. Participants will work through practical examples and engage in interactive learning.

The course includes:

  • Breaks between sessions for reflection and discussion
  • Q&A opportunities
  • Continuous assessment through random quizzes and short activities
  • Reflective practices and social learning to reinforce key concepts

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the foundational knowledge and confidence to design a electrical installation.

Who Should Attend

This course is suitable for:

  • Electricians, electrical technicians, engineers, technical executives, and supervisors involved in electrical installation design, construction, operation, or maintenance
  • Company management, design practitioners, contractors, and owners of electrical installations who wish to understand design principles and regulatory expectations
  • Practitioners, technicians, and engineers seeking to apply their knowledge to the practical design of electrical installations
  • This is especially valuable for those beginning their LEW competency development, providing structured guidance aligned with regulatory expectations and industry practice
