Introduction
Electrical installations are used in industries, shopping malls, offices, domestic premises, etc. In addition, supply installations usually are used in construction work sites. They are subject to compliance with the Electricity Act, relevant Regulations, and Code of Practices, among other things. Therefore, it is vital that practitioners, operators, and owners of these installations have the necessary knowledge of the laws and design principles of the installations so that appropriate preventive measures can be instituted at the design stage to avoid future unnecessary electrical accidents. The purpose of this course is to provide, strengthen and deepen them with the understanding of the application procedures and relevant documents required during the submission with a practical approach.
Objective
This one-day course covers requirements and documents for submission for both Electrical/Supply Installation and Solar PV installations. Shows the examples and case studies of non-compliance of electrical installations. There will be breaks between sessions, allow Q and A, continuous assessment in the form of written test to re-call and re-instate what has been taught in class will be carried out to enhance the learning process, e.g., reflective practices and social learning, etc.
Who Should Attend
This course is suitable for all practitioners who are electricians, electrical technicians, engineers, PEs & technical executives, supervisors, etc., and those assisting PE/LEWs in submitting applications to SP Group.
The course is also suitable for the company management, safety practitioners, and owners of the electrical installations, Contractors, etc., to attend and understand the regulatory compliance and the non-compliance to take appropriate action to enhance the safety management of the installations.
What Participants Will Learn
This course is crafted to apply the basic principles of application procedures, a step-by-step guide on applying for electrical/supply installations, Solar PV installations, and the necessary documents to build the learner’s capability and confidence level. Identify the non-compliance. At the end of this course, participants acquire the required knowledge of the application procedures and work on their own as a LEW or persons assisting LEWs. In addition, familiarise the regulatory compliance.

- Categories of submission (eg: Temporary, Permanent and PV)
- Electrical, Supply installation & PV submission
- Roles of SPPG, SPS and EMA related to the applications.
- Type of connections and load, Sample unit testing & Pre turn on
- Categories of building & testing types (eg; Multi tenanted, commercial etc,)
- Categories of non-compliance
- Case study
- Written Practice submission & Summary
