Introduction

Electrical powered equipment, machineries, and temporary electrical installations, etc. are commonly deployed in construction projects. Upon project completion, electrical installations are designed and set up to provide electric supply taken from the electricity grid or other energy sources such as solar power, etc., to operate lighting, air-conditioning services, apparatus, cooking, and heating devices, etc. for shopping malls, office complexes, industrial and residential estates.

Since electricity can kill or severely injure people and cause damage to property, it is therefore important that precautions must be in place when working with or near electricity and electrical equipment to significantly reduce the risk of electrical hazards accordingly.

In this regard, the stakeholders of construction projects and those who take over such roles after the respective project completion are required to comply with relevant local legislation and Singapore standards, etc. which are established with the intention to make the workplace as well as residential premises safe. Non-compliance with the requirements may subject the responsible stakeholders to regulatory action by the relevant authority aside civil proceedings by the victim on damages, etc.

Objective:

This two-day course covers 2 parts: essentially the WSH laws on electrical safety, PTW system for high-voltage electrical installations under the Electricity regulatory framework and highlights of SS538 - Maintenance of Electrical Equipment of Electrical Installations. There will be breaks between sessions, allowing Q and A to clarify matters. Continuous assessment in the form of random quizzes and activities will be carried out to enhance the learning process and experience.

Who Should Attend
